Greek Manestra (Orzo)
An easy recipe for Greek Manestra (Orzo).

- 1 big onion
- olive oil for cooking
- 500 g ground beef
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder
- ⅓ tsp chilli flakes
- ½ tsp oregano
- ⅓ tsp black pepper
- ⅓ tbsp granulated sugar
- 250 g tomato sauce/puree
- 200 g orzo
- 1 l vegetable broth
- a few leaves of fresh mint
- 1 tsp cummin
- parsley to garnish
- 5 pink peppers
- parmesan cheese (optional)
Chop up the onion into small cubes. Fry the onion on medium-low heat in olive oil. Fry until golden.
Add pink pepper and half the amount of the other spices. Add ground meat and cook until it gets brown. Add the rest of the spices and stir well.
Pour tomato sauce/puree into the pan and stir again. After 10 minutes of spices, meat and tomato sauce getting together, add vegetable broth and orzo.
Cook under the cover for 15-20 minutes. It depends on orzo - check if it's soft. In the end, garnish with mint leaves, parsley and add parmesan cheese.
